She Becomes The Moonlight

Poem By Dónall Dempsey

She becomes
the moonlight

that she dances in

her nudity now
concealed then revealed

in shadow
by shadows

each gesture
like the wind

that moves teasingly among
...from tree to tree...

each step
the carefully choreographed
motion of moonlight & ocean

yet as unrehearsed
as this summer’s evening

this holiday
of happiness

she becomes the moonlight
that she dances in.
