She Walks Away

Poem By Gabriella Franco

'Look, daddy, look what I made! '
'That's great Scout, now go play'
'Okay, daddy, just look, it's for you'
'Honey, I will, but I have work to do'
So she goes out and plays
A half smile on her face
She loves her daddy but she doesn't see
Why he wont just glance at the picture titled 'Daddy and me'

'Hey dad, look, i wrote a song a drew a pic.
Dad, look it's titled 'Daddy' and hey look at this...'
'Uh huh, yeah, sure... Sorry Scout, what'd you say? '
'Nevermind dad, I'll go away'
So she goes away
A half smile on her face
She has nothing to do, so she just walks around
When she goes back inside, her work is on the ground

It hurts, but no, she wont let it show
'Dad'll think I'm a baby, and he'll let me know.'
So she picks it up and goes up to her room
Where she cries and hopes to find refuge
Her dreams keep crashing down, she tries to fix them up
She wants some attention, she just wants to be loved

'Yo pops! Look! ! Listen to this song i wrote!
I've worked really hard, I can hit every note! '
He glances it over, says 'I don't like this part'
He walks away. She says 'Okay i'll fix it! ' He just broke her heart
Then he walks away
Theres a half smile on her face
She then goes to fix her art, she doesn't see what's wrong
'Man, I don't get it. I worked so hard on this song'

So she gives up. says 'Then I won't show him again'
Then she lives it up with the wrong kind of friends
They like her writing, and they tell her to sing
When she showed them her work, they loved everything
These people may have been bad, she migh have gotten hurt
But at least they loved her writing, what's truly HER

'Hey, scout, I've got a concert, want to come support me? '
'Sorry, dad, I can't tonight I'm kinda busy'
'Well you have to, sorry, That's jus the way it is'
'Whatever dad, I'll just bring my friends'
Then he walks away
No smile on his face
He's hurt. She sees it. She likes it a lot
She doesnt give a //// about his songs

She wishes she could tell him how she really feels
But he's never cared, why should she? for real.
So she picks up her pen, goes up to her room
Where she writes vain hopes to find refuge
Her dreams keep crashing down, she tries to fix them up
She wants some attention, she just wants to be loved

'Hey there Scout, written anything lately? '
'Yeah, its on the web. But i'm getting ready to leave'
'Oh. where you goin' can you show me real fast? '
'I dont know where I'm going. Away. okay dad'
Then she runs away
Tears on her face
The pen and knife in her pocket are her only friends
The last poem she wrote was titled 'This is the End'

She doesn't want to die. She just wants to get away
Find someone who cares about what she has to say
So she picks up her stuff and walks down the road
Where she won't feel comepletely feel completely alone
Her dreams kept crashing down, she tried to fix them up
She wanted some attention, she just wanted to be loved

So she slits her wrists, passes out, walks back home
Where she again feels completely alone
'Hey dad, you like my poems? Did you read any? '
'Oh, no, sorry Scout, I just got busy'
'uh huh' she walks away
A half smile on her face
No one understands why she doesnt like her daddy
if they ever asked she'd say 'He doesn't like my writing'

She walks into a room, finds her notebook on the floor
Theres only one more page. Only room for one more.
So she picks it up and goes up to her room
Where she writes about hopes to find refuge
Her dreams are crashing down, she'd tried to fix them up
She wanted some attention, she'd just wanted to be loved

Sometimes

Sometimes, I'm a little rude, but just sometimes
Sometimes, I guess I can be creative, but just sometimes
Sometimes, I feel on top of the world, but only sometimes
Sometimes, I feel like I'm all alone, but only sometimes

Answering Machine

I called again. dont ask why
I wanted to hear 'i was wrong'
I knew you weren't home
Maybe I could talk to your mom

Remember, I Am

When all their backs have been turned
When all your bridges have burned
When you forget to teach and learn

The Touch Of The Master's Hand

’Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.

Burying Me Alive

The emptiness inside keeps growing
Clausterphobia from the inside, I'm choking
I can hardly breathe anymore
I feel trapped, The nothingness is spreading

I Do But I Don'T

I know i want you and i want you bad
I know i need someone to hold my hand
I know you've helped me out, it's clear to see
I know I like you and i know you love me
