Sin Is A Bad Thing

Poem By Emery Okwakpam

Sin is a bad thing
Thwarting normalness,
Slowly it manifests
Leading away,
Lost like that which cannot be found

My soul bludgeons,
I hunger once more for normalness
Seeking redress,
Sin takes more away than it pleasurably gives.

To me who thinks I have control,
The tawdry seas, takes home even the most skilled sailor
Not home like one’s abode o’er the hills
But to that where retribution awaits the committer

The Mosquitoes

When night falls, everywhere quieter,
The seas calm, the roads all to one’s shelter,
Out of the bloom you stroll out with that buzzing swagger,
Tiny mosquitoes, causing more harm than a soldier’s dagger.

Thoughts come and go; opportunity misuse
Little leaves me wondering
The chronology of deeds and hopes unabashed
