Sitting In The Passenger Seat

Poem By Amanda Thomas

Sitting in the passenger seat
Lights streaking past like words uttered and forgotten
This night, like any other

Smoke curls from my fingertips to the sky
The boy driving me to nowhere
Is perfect

This night is perfect
We'll never fade away, never be forgotten
Attempts at articulating will all come out wrong

I try to tell him that I love him
Try to tell him that I never want to go home
He just smiles and laughs, tells me that I'm so drunk

I don't know what I'm saying.
He knows he's wrong.
