Skaters All Aboard
Crisp winter wind tugging at my coat,
by Pat Bordner
slowly numbing my face.
The sun shinning across the skating rink,
surrounded by banks of snow.
Songs playing over the loud speaker,
touching my very soul.
Voices of laughter all around the warming
house just ahead.
Long ago a railroad car, now put to bed.
Smoke rising out of its stack, welcoming
all to come in.
Door squeaking behind me, it's good to be
out of the cold.
Warming my hands by the old wood stove, now seeing skaters, where passengers once rode.
If the conductor was to appear, he would
cry out loud and clear SKATERS ALL ABOARD
