Skinny Girl

i am far too heavy
he insists
fat thighs,
fat arms,
fat tummy,
fat fat.
everything fat.

'i only like
the little things, '
he told me,
'the only ones
i've ever been with.'

'stick-thin'
'skinny'
is what he says.

but he insists,
'i love you
in spite of
your plump
round
ass.
but i need my sleep,
no baby,
not tonight.
tomorrow.'

we won't.
we usually don't.

he makes
egg and sausage
every morning,
but never for me.
it's okay...
i'm not that hungry
after all.

in fact,
if i stay with you,
i don't think
i'll be hungry for a while.
me or
my fat belly.

you keep telling me
'i love you
in spite of the way you look.'

thank you honey,
you are so patient
to put up
with such a chubby girl,
so for you,
i will never eat again.
in fact,
i'll run
until i can't breathe.
until it hurts.

if i stay here
i can be that little thing,
and you
will want me.
stick-thin
tiny me.
'cause i'm gonna keep losing.
until there will be
nothing left
to lose.

i will waste myself away.
and you'll say,
'baby,
don't eat that!
you don't want to look
the way you used to.'

so,
i'll just keep on starving.

and sweetie,
one day
i'm gonna get
as skinny as i could be...
and you'll say
you gotta lose a couple pounds.'
but when there's
nothing left to lose,
your body gives up.

and honey,
one morning
when you actually want me,
i'm not gonna wake up.

Such a great poem Kristin. It sounds like the only thing you need to lose is this guy! You don't need somebody to love you 'in spite of how you look'. I'm sure you're beautiful just as you are. Lose weight only if you really want to for your health...never for a man. Take care. Sincerely, Mary
