Sleepless Nights

Sleepless nights,
And butterflies,
Love songs,
And violins,
A game of chance,
Of hide and seek,

A furtive look,
Across a room,
A signal,
Stop or start,
The music loud,
Stills an errant,
Beating heart,

Confusion reigns,
Now panic,
Then happiness,
A message in a mailbox,
Rescued from,
The word,

And saved there,
With a photograph,
Now signed,
With gentle tears,
And love remains,
The way it has,
For oh, so,
Many years.

And with the love,
Still shining,
Like a beacon,
In the dark,
I’m welcomed,
To the morning,
By the singing,
Of a lark.
