Slow Goodbye

Slow Goodbye

They call it the Slow Goodbye
Alzheimer's is not how anyone would choose to die
But each day that goes by
A little less twinkle I see in your eye

You once were such a docile Dad
Now tempers flare and you get mad
Mom always in control now sad
Lost to her health now really bad

So I'm stuck in between being the parent now
Role reversal forced on somehow
But I cry at the loss with furrowed brow
Slow Goodbye...with love I vow
