this smile
with lips dusty
muscles strained
growing rusty
teeth stained
glowing showing
past mistakes made

this smile of mine
seldom sees
the day
remains locked
for time

today, I rummage
within self
back corner
on shelf
I find
this smile of mine
and demand it
go home!
under nose
settled or disheveled
nestled in lips rose

command it, I try
wrestle, I tug
attempt to lug
this smile from inside
deep in hole, it resides

In short, I resign
I relinquish my smile
and resort
to a line
