Snooze

Poem By Rosalyn Grohol

He liked me because I was the light in his dark little world
I happily licked the salt from his wounds.
I felt less than confident
I found a happy go lucky girl
She was too hungry for attention and did not like sharing the spotlight.
I bragged to my friends about my accomplishments
They pulled the rug from underneath me.
He lifted me up with his hand and allowed me to eat from it.
They shared their drugs and their demons with me.
I felt lost and alone.
He wanted me to show him flowers but I had already ripped them out and given them away.
He doesn't want something broken. He wants something beautiful, which makes me think he doesn't want me.
Sometimes I do feel broken.
I feel flowers blooming inside of me and that terrifies me because I haven't let anything grow in so long.
The same people who put me down try to label and categorize me and tell me why I am the way I am.
I just want to stay sleeping but my alarm clock keeps going off, even after the third time I hit snooze.

Something To Believe In

She closed her heart like an old screen door
She didn't want to use it anymore
Like a blue sky fading to grey
She slowly lost the colors in her face

Lost Love

She didn't want to lose him
But she's losing herself
And she's slowly dying
As he lives for someone else

Love Lost

Blue skies always turn to grey
And everything ends the same way
And just like the seasons
He had me believing

Impossible Love

We were only kids
We were free and running wild
You never said you loved me
But I could see it in your smile

Love Hurts

I watched a love
Break like glass
I've seen the tragedy
Of when it all crashed

My Reminder

I needed a reminder
Of who I am inside
I forgot what was true
And got lost in a lie
