So Let Us Love

Poem By Edmund Spenser

Most glorious Lord of life! that on this day
Didst make thy triumph over death and sin,
And having harrowed hell, didst bring away
Captivity thence captive, us to win:
This joyous day, dear Lord, with joy begin;
And grant that we, for whom Thou diddest die,
Being, with thy dear blood, clean washed from sin,
May live for ever in felicity;
And that thy love we weighing worthily,
May likewise love Thee for the same again;
And for thy sake, that all like dear didst buy,
With love may one another entertain.
So let us love, dear Love, like as we ought:
Love is the lesson which the Lord us taught.

Comments about So Let Us Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, to make possible the redemption of humanity. The victory was Christ's, acceptance is our free will, the choice of how we live our lives remains ours. Thankfully love covers a multitude of sins.

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:

But harder grows the more I her entreat?

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great

One day I wrote her name upon the strand,
But came the waves and washed it away:
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide, and made my pains his prey.
