So They Say
Life's time span is too brief the people often say
by Lydia McKinney
So humans have tried to lengthen their final earthly stay
Does it really matter what the people say, for people
will talk their futile lives away, revealing nothing
but social games, leaving people victims, walking lame
Oh God above, we cry to you, you are frequently to blame.
So that's what the people have comfortably complained,
The world is not the destined place to see this social change.
Humans strive at a rapid rate and time has you estranged.
Oh Satan below, they say you know such evil ways
And you are just as equal in this social shame.
But people caught among the two are victims engulfed for sure.
With mortal beings you've played between your political power
ploys. And it's too hard not to reveal we feel like your mere toys.
They also say technology abated our humble place. We've tried
to see beyond your dreams and paint your formless face.
So now you two despite what we do have seen it just and clear
To use us beings in your schemes no matter how severe.
The price we pay is far too great, but neither one will hold.
Our mortal pains are yours to blame just feel what we must feel.
And then your games will cease to be mere mortal toys in agony?
