Aurora borealis playing across the mountaintops.
by Sharmeen Azam
This gaping mouth tremble at its majesty.
Strewn along the navy blue sky,
Carat-sized stars with open arms
hoping I hear their calling.
Beautiful darkness interrupted,
fireflies in mating dance.
Pining breeze whispers she’s lonely,
waiting for a listener to spread her adventures.
Mirroring sheets of water captivate my ugly, and
reflect unreal anonymous beauty.
Dark imperfections on the moon,
does not hide the shame
for her radiance remains suspended.
Crickets playing their orchestra,
my heart flutters to be their diva.
But do I dare expose mine shortcomings?
Nay! I lack their simplicity,
for I am just human.
