Some Sundays

and so the wheel turns
another day has come
another year has left
but not for all

how I still see you, frozen
in oft remembered freeze-frames

a smile
a hug
a wave
and a life’s last minutes
fly away in a flock

still though, we visit
a remembered kiss
passing glances
at portraits of love
photos of two
although I see only you
while feeding your Kitty

some Sundays
I carry your bible
it still needs a warm hand
pouring a heart’s tender love
over lonely wispy pages

blankets of grass, and towering stones
standing silent guard, over love and bones

now for just one
another year has left
another day has come
and so the wheel turns
