Something Light

t was real damn hard
to accept my charge
to have it when you need it
no matter the weather
for worse or for better

i hid my fear
from ear to ear
a wall of teeth; a smirk
accepted my bait
and is never my fate

a cape a cape
they gave me a cape
i shrugged and sighed
and accepted my fate

i set my pace
to the front of the race
because thats just where it is
the ground
supporting my feet
and below i can't breathe

they show to me hell
and its sickening smells
an acquired taste, to settle your stomach
to keep your reserve
best soften those nerves

a shield a shield
they gave me a shield
i blinked and glanced
and respected the deal
