Sonnet- Don’t Blame The Doctor, Please!

When life departs from someone very young,
When doctor can’t prevent its departure,
When complications have already sprung,
In empathy, he enters by nature.

What can a doctor do if things go wrong?
What can he do when his good work’s undone?
What can he do ‘gainst heavy odds for long?
Just frustration will be his morrow’s dawn.

How sad it is to see not much progress?
How sad it is to miss a diagnosis?
How sad it is when saving chances become less?
What can he do if bad’s the prognosis?

The best of treatment sometimes never works,
As death behind the patient always lurks!
