Sonnet: Evil-Doers Can’t Escape

If God does want to punish Man ably,
’Tis not impossible a task for Him;
Through Nature, He can do things suitably,
And make His creature Man better and trim.

The Lord who sent the deluge o’er the earth,
The God who sent locusts to destroy grain,
The Lord who killed Egypt’s first-born aft-birth,
Can bring disease or drought or wind or rain!

Yet, God is kind and patient all along;
He has great love for this one creature Man!
He bestows suff’rings to correct his wrong;
Pardon his sins and redeem him, God can!

Someday, the weeds will be removed all well;
While good men get Heaven, evil get Hell.
