Madness

Sometimes when I sit
In my comfortable chair
I think of the world
And the unrest that's there
Riots and clashes
Violence everywhere
From Syria to the Ukraine
Death is in the air
Illegal gold mining
Takes young South African lives
Bombs in Beirut
Cause people to die
The poor in Brazil
Got Samba to do
Carnivals coming
All bright and new
Protesters in Bangkok
Want Government replaced
Here at home I wonder
Can this be our fate?
Our leaders don't listen
Heads in the sand
Keep smiling for the vote
With greedy outstretched hands
Want our guns
Other freedoms to
Ignore The Constitution
Got spying to do
We have to put
Our people back to work
Need dirt in our fingernails
And grease on our shirts
I watch the Olympics from Sochi
Such a breath of fresh air
Thanks Mr. Putin
For keeping the Olympic spirit alive there
The world is a mess
No matter where you go
It's madness, pure madness
So sad that's all we've come to know.
