Sonnet: Our Extra-Time Is To Atone
God has been kind; Unchanged my heart remains!
by Dr. A.Celestine Raj Manohar M.D.,
Perhaps, He has not punished me enough;
In vain, I search for earthly lucre, gains;
Maybe, I’ll learn when going gets quite rough.
Despite our falls, foolish we tend to be,
Slipping on polished floors, even when young;
Let’s blame ourselves for walking carelessly,
With high-heeled shoes on plantain-peels, cow dung.
When old we get, our bones do get fragile;
And joints get stiffened; yet, we think we’re wise;
Remember then, can we hardly walk a mile?
Let’s make our minds pure and try to be nice.
God gives us time to atone for sins past;
An old net gets no fish howev’r well cast.
