Sonnet: Our Gratefulness To God

And people shower kisses upon me,
For soothing words of mine and good advice;
Some hug me tightly so spontaneously,
And fall prostrate at my feet to entice.

Some thank by way of letters or through phone,
Or send apt greeting-cards for my birthday;
They come to enquire when ill or lone
Reciprocating love, the human way.

A dog is grateful to its master for
The food and shelter, love and great kindness;
So, sits beside his dead master in awe;
Until it dies, its heart’s filled with sadness.

How much more grateful should man be to God,
Who gave him human form, soul, Tho’ made from clod?
