Sonnet: Our Soul Matters

The world keeps turning bad to worse o'er days;
I know not what to do, what can I do?
How long can I keep off from evil ways?
I've tried my best to honest remain too.

Men who are worldly-wise are faring well;
I cannot follow their paths even now;
For mortal sins can lead to Hell;
To God, my Lord, alone, I wish to bow.

For years, I've suffered God, give me respite;
How can I waste my life and lose my soul?
Give me thy grace and will, to devils fight;
Assign me Lord a newer strength and role.

And God, before I breathe my very last,
Let me my soul's purity regain fast.
