Sonnet: Prisoners Of War

Look at the famished men in cells ill-kept!
Just fleshless skeletons, draped by thin skin;
Some are but heroes, unlauded, unwept,
Who spend the lives for unknown crimes and sin.

Look at the ravished prisoners of war!
Who had been tortured to reveal details;
Release is but an event very far;
There are no souls to send them even mails.

Look at the wretched souls ‘hind wire-fence!
They breathe an air of slavery so foul;
None to forgive their ‘crimes’ till date and hence
To die a death of starvation- their goal.

Could earthlings not evolve a better way,
Of punishments and forgiveness someday?
