Sonnet: The World Today(17)

Alas, men eat live snakes to set records,
And live in cages filled with Scorpions;
And gulp a feast with speed, meant for the lords;
And ride wild Boars and Horses; tame Lions!

There is no limit to what man can do;
For name and glory, quick-wealth, risks, he takes;
And there-by puts his life in danger too;
With vanity each step on earth, he makes.

What is this world then coming to, O God?
The human intellect works stupidly;
And man pronounces himself to be Lord;
Morality has declined rapidly.

And whither civilization does head?
The Righteous souls feel they were better dead!
