Southern Summer Day

My wife and I
slow dancing in bed
again
sunrise soon
a send-off to
the bayou moon
black river slowly moves
and whispers by
behind the house
live oak
and cedar trees
Spanish moss
and
firefly
sound of the morning crow
from the rooster down the road
Cajun Creole summer
day
Shortly start the roux
then
crawfish frogs beans and rice
wines liqueurs and brandy too
tomatoes okra and the yams
oysters shrimp squirrel and crab
by all measures
in the dozens
music starts by noon
