High on the mountain plateau lie
wildflowers in profusion,
in springtime, time when you and I
recapture the illusion
a change of season brings, and we
forget the winter’s blast,
for nature is in mutiny
against the frozen past
and marches with its colors, blue
and purple, yellow, red,
which signal with their springtime hue
that there is life beyond the dying
of winter, but we know
that though the wildflowers are not lying,
again the cold will blow.
