Summer Fades Away

Even though summer is fading away,
There is indian summer which brings more hot days
so a bathing suit and hair stays wet longer
so the swimming pool is closed and school is open
it is still daylight savings time so we have longer days
so children have more time to play outside in the sun.

Then the darkness comes soon
and leaves come off the trees because it is windy.
Children will dress up in costumes
scare us and trick or treat under the light of a full moon.

Daylight saving ends and truly summer is over,
so crickets stop chattering and start screeching at night
I think crickets are dying so they are screaming with fright
when the cold wet dew stays on the grass
then all the leaves have been raked and taken away.

Now snowflakes fall and branches on the trees become white.
Children will make snowballs and go slieghriding and ice skating.
Winter is long but we can find delight.
