Summer Highway

How does one so young misconstrue the
light for darkness? A life, a hollow reed
that’s melody is forced out by the winds
of change, played by some unseen hand.
Coming from afar the shadows of what
was now uninvited descend like fog,
clouding the memories within. Dancing,
dreaming hands and feet reeling, calling
out unbelieving, yet the melody is in my
soul still deceiving. Standing off in the
darkness so very alone, waiting on a
dream.
