Sunset

What price a sunset viewed from one's bed
What price that scene with forlorn gulls overhead
The metronomic ebb and flow
The backing track to nature's show
Molten bronze, a mute inferno
The last warm rays of a living glow
Flooding the sky with burning calm
Infinite power not used to harm
Beachcombers tracks erased by tide
But memories of the day abide
Shadows cling to the final light
Then transformation with the onset of night
Myriad jewels across the bay
Are further proof of the end of day
The single entity of sea and sky
In an inky pact they unify
