Sweet Swingin' Jazz Band

Poem By Charlotte Riddle

O sweet sound of saxophone,
Swingin’ in my head
The beat that’s makin’ me
Jump right outta bed
Here come the trumpets,
Tootin’ right along
Tonguing that old
Bebop song
Keep right up,
You ol’ baritone bass
Can’t you see the happiness
Plastered on my face?
That never-ending trapset
Drum-drummin’ right on
I’ll keep that cadence
All night long
Ba-ba once more, you silly trombone
Bring the music back again
Let me hear you ba-ba-bu-doo
‘fore the night ends
Ah, you lovely piano
What a melody!
Swing it, sway it, give some rhythm
Let every note fly free
Come on, you ragtime jazz band
Keep on a-swingin'
That ol’ tune stays my head
And leaves my voice singin'

(That ol' ba-ba-bu-doo...)
