The Actor

Poem By Linda Harnett

It seems that life,
Is but a play,
On broken dreams,
Dreamt day by day,
It’s not as simple.
As it seems,
For every day’s,
A different scene.

For I am actor,
Play the game,
I read the script,
It’s all the same,
I learn the lines,
Word perfect now,
I make it through,
And take a bow.

Tomorrow there’s,
Another part,
For me to play,
With all my heart,
Love you today,
That’s all I know,
And happy just,
To let it flow.

I hear the crowd,
I cannot see,
The spotlight now,
Has blinded me,
Drowning now,
In adulation,
I’m deafened by,
Standing ovation.

My life directed,
By command,
They tell me when,
To sit and stand,
I speak the words,
I’m told to say,
And wonder who,
I am today.

Somewhere

Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
Somewhere,
With sand in my toes,

Today, I Lit A Candle

Today I lit a candle,
In memory of you,
A very special tribute,
A flame of gold and blue.

Autumn Leaves

The autumn leaves,
Abandoned tree,
The red and yellow,
Now are free,

Hush Now, Child

Hush now child,
No need to say goodbye,
No winter song,
No gentle lullaby,

I'M Going Now

I’m going now,
Just moving on,
Perhaps you’ll miss me,
When I’m gone,

Puppy Love

I had a little puppy,
It piddled on the floor,
And every time I mopped it up,
It piddled even more.
