The Arrival Of The Night

The Arrival Of The Night

Poem By Reshma Dream Is Never A Crime................

It was evening
The sun was retiring to his bed
To take a good rest
Sothat he can shine with all his might
The next new day

Everything was being slowly covered,
Covered in a grey light
Yes, night was creeping in
Followed by silence

The beasts retired to their kids
Made their beds in the grass
The birds got back to their nests
And cuddled their yawning children

But the nightingale was still awake
Preparing to begin her show
She sang her beautiful love song
Which was so engaging
That silence didnot mind getting disturbed

Above, the sky was dark
With stars twinkling and flickering in the far
They were showing off well
For they knew that they would soon be overcome

And then came the moon
Slowly rising from behind a cloud
In a kingly majesty
He ooked down and smiled
At the peacefully sleeping beings

He nodded at the night
And revealed his matchless splendour
Enveloping everything in silver light
The waters shone in his presence
While the lovers praised his beauty

The earth lay sound asleep
Admist the silver light
And the night drew the earth
Closer to her chest
While I slowly closed my eyes........................
