In The Shadows

There in the shadows along with rats
at the bottom of the road near the councill flats
she stands on the corner silouhetted by the light
fishnet stockings in the middle of the night
she leans into the window of a car that crawls
and her phone from the pimp with the twenty missed calls
no commitment or wedding bands
they reach a price and money swaps hands
she jumps in the seat and they go for a ride
a dark skanky alley where they can hide
forgotten by the people in that dirty part of town
she was a princess long ago but slipped and lost her crown
