The Beauty Of Life Is Its Music

Poem By Shalom Freedman

The Beauty of Life is its Music
I hear it again and again-

Even an old man can listen
And love to the depths of his being
These songs of most intense feeling-

Oh Music
How you make us
Long for and love life more
even as we are with greater difficulty living it.

All I Wanted Was Poems

I didn’t want other kinds of words
I wanted poems
Because they helped me feel more alive
They gave me an intensity

Nothing Tells Me How To Begin Again

And how can I expect to do at the age of seventy- five?

I Must Continue To Write

There will always be another poem
And with that poem- hope
However absurd-
So even if I despair
