The Beauty Queen

Poem By sarah sarah

She's living in a perfect world, a picture painted life
But now she's locked inside her room, away from the pretense
One hand trembles slightly as the other holds the knife
She's living in a perfect world a picture painted life

She's got a pefect family who does everything right
But now no eyes are watching her, it's two o clock at night
The knife meets no resistance as it bites into her skin
She's got a perfect family who does everything right

Her rehearsed facade reveals no pain, no anguish, no emotion
But now she's in a crumpled heap upon the bathroom floor
The blood flows freely down her arm, it's marring her perfection
Her rehearsed facade reveals no pain, no anguish, no emotion

Soon it's time to go back to the flawlessness she feigns
But now she lies there weeping, she is broken, beaten, bruised
She stuffs a rag into her mouth to muffle cries of pain
Soon it's time to go back to the flawlessness she feigns

She's come back to the beauty queen who's at the prime of youth
But now she covers up the wound, just one among so many
Yet the crimson drops against the white still testify the truth
She's not the perfect beauty queen who's at the prime of youth
