The Boat

Poem By mike ross

The boat stood alone today,
as boats do.
Patiently waiting for the fishermen to start the days work.

But the boat smiled today,
Remembering
The lovers who,
In the boats’ moon shadow,
Beneath the nights’ star filled sky
With the passion of young lovers
Fused their heart and soul together.

The boat remembered the joy and emotion in the mans' heart,
As he looked into her eyes and saw the moon,
Her hair framed by stars, glistened with sand.
And her smile
Betraying her heart,
Spoke without words,
her desire for him.

The man realized at that moment
what the boat knew,
He had found
His love of a lifetime......

A wonderful piece, Mike, illustrating that poetry can bring even inanimate objects to life, with the memories we impose on them as reminders to ourselves.
