Ashes

Don’t give up on your dreams.
If you don’t dream, what have you got to look forward to?
Dreams are what keep us going,
They look to the future,
And help us keep our faith.
Faith in people and faith in ourselves.
They give us the feeling,
You know that wonderful feeling that tells us all hope is not lost.
So don’t give up on your dreams,
Because if you do,
You will suffocate.
In the ashes of the dreams you let die.

I have always been a pacifist and I am anti-war and anti-violence.. this is a very good poem to read.I remember the Smother's Brothers show many years ago..will share this poem on Facebook..a ten from me! ! ! for a good hearty laugh..
I believe that John Denver actually had an LP that included his recitation of this poem. The poem was very popular during the Vietnam era, but it is so appropriate again today...
Lascelles Abercrombie is the author. Named The Box, Jack Lemon recited the poem on the Smother's Brothers Show.
