Let It Go

I remember
my father
angry once

commenting
in anguish
indignation

upon a man
who had falsely
insulted his

honour
I quietly
asked

about
listened
to details

asked
where the man
was now;

then
quietly
said

to my
beloved
father

let it go
he has
been dead

for 30 years
the needs
of the present

often call
with urgency
errors

of the past
in time should
be forgotten

whispers
