The Dancer

Poem By Lauren Anne Jonas

She pranced and whurled and danced and twirled
The world at her feet
And the breeze in her hair

They clap, they laugh, they scream, they cheer
The spring in her step
And the grin on her face

Determined, concentrating, praying with joy
The light in her eyes
And the butterflies inside

Arms wide, jumps long, legs out, head high
The grace of her moves
And the sequins galore

The practise, the hours, the effort, the tears
The music fades out
And the flowers then fly.
