The Essence Of Fluorescents

Poem By Brandon Adamson

Try to capture
the essence
the metaphorical scent
of phosphorescence
in the fluorescents,
despite their fueling
the need for antidepressants
and a future scarce of descendants
of the once abundant,
soon to be extinct incandescents

for these things,
the fluorescents,
even in their inanimate
show us our life in a different light,
as it is, not as we wish.
and the pale green acts as
the painful shock,
we sometimes need to change it.
