The Forest Through The Trees

To my friend who wishes
To sleep for ever more
We are the forest
But through the trees
You see us not
Come and allow us
To shelter you, oh friend
From the elements
That wish to destroy you now
The sun beats down
But rest in our shade
The rain will drowned
Come and we will cover you
The wind will blind
Come and we will break it
So to my friend whom
Wishes to sleep for ever more
Get your focus and
You will see the forest
Through the trees
As mighty as the oak
We’ve been here all along
And we will be here till the end

i don't know what to say because your first comment was so true and eloquent. another dark poem with a silver lining of hope. a great idea of through the trees instead of for the trees. another amazing poem, Kath

An elegy for a dear friend, very touching and lyrical. It is very conforting to think of the trees that live on in spite of earthly sorrows. Warmest regards, Sandra
