The Forgotten Day: June 20th, World Refugee Day
Ragged clothes, big frightened eyes,
by Mary Naylor
Who cares if they live? Who cares if they die?
Starvation knawing from within,
Exploiters snaring them, to live in sin.
Torn from parents, or parents don't care.
Children doomed, who can only stare,
At a world so fair; at a world not theirs,
And feel thirst and hunger, they cannot bear.
Children bereft of love and home,
With blistered feet, they are damned to roam.
