The Friend

I have a friend who's love is true
He died on the cross for me and for you
He was forced to carry the cross on his back
Up a cold and rocky hillside track
They nailed his hands and feet to the wood
He had the power to kill them
He knew he could
But he let them mock him and laugh at his name
To kill this man was a terrible shame
The reason he did this for me and for you
Was to let us know a way that is true
He opened a way to eternal life
Where it's all love not one bit of strife
His name is Jesus Christ
