Here's the story of a young boy,
David was his grandma's heart,
Being blessed with a biblical name,
Of course off to church was his start.
She loved her one and only grandson,
Taking him under her wing,
Her own son was incarcerated,
Not knowing when he'd be free.
Why can’t schools Pre, K thru 12 then college?
Add the bible for extra wisdom & knowledge?
The separation of church and state,
Wasn’t meant to hinder those who graduate.
The bible as a tool is a good thing,
As it teaches us right from wrong,
Schools will educate in worldly ways,
Scripture instructs on how to get along.
Although raised in a church atmosphere,
Nevertheless David felt this was not his thing,
Then one day he decided to leave it,
Seeking what the outside world could bring.
Unfortunately, this is not all that uncommon,
Why do so many choose to walk out the door?
With the feeling that something is still missing,
People are actually leaving and seeking more.
Exactly what or how do they intend to find?
The emptiness occupying their heart and mind?
In what becomes a seemingly endless search,
What for them could not be found in church?
Another name for our bible is the good book,
One would think there’s no other place to look,
Where common sense tries to take the place of grace,
Is when bewilderment becomes stamped across our face.
Some churches are providing a poor sample,
They need to execute a better example,
Since action speaks louder than words,
Focus more on being seen and not heard.
There’s an old saying “monkey see monkey do, ”
In your life try not to let that monkey be you,
Work smarter not harder towards Christian perfection,
So new converts won’t be lead in the wrong direction.
Lest anyone feel the need to hold a grudge,
It’s not the author’s intention to try and judge,
Satan only needs a little room inserting a wedge,
Putting perverse, distorted thoughts in your head.
Once this accomplishment is established, said and done,
He runs to God with a smile, “see, I have another one, ”
This poem is only meant to be a wake-up reality slap,
Remember, it’s very easy to fall inside the devil’s trap.
Flashback to an 18 year old and what caused David to stray?
Quick tax-free money, fast cars & easy women lead him away,
Sure as we stand in life we must also sleep in our own bed,
Oh David, young David died from a bullet wound to the head.
Was it the parishioners and the church that caused him to fail?
Maybe the old lady raising this kid because his daddy was in jail?
I only wish there was an answer since he’s not the only young man,
David's funeral,1 parent showed up in handcuffs exiting a county van.
Do not forget, our churches are the very last stand,
To come together and patiently await the Son of Man,
Earnestly and being diligent in doing all that we can,
The Good Book is the only place to find our Master’s plan.
