The Hungry

The hungry
Send prayers heavenward
with their empty eyes
their belies pray too;
rumbling orations,
pleading for sustenance

In survival mode
bodies consume muscle
and bone, refining
down to heart
and prayer

eyes cast about
the barren ground,
but prayers ever sound
in the creaks, rumbles,
and cries
