The Laborer

Rise and yawn
at crack of dawn
your work begins
'til clean kitchens
laundry folded
socks all sorted
and then to sleep, good night

Rise again
quarter to ten
you make the beds
the dogs are fed
plant daffodils
dust window sills
and then to sleep, good night

Rise once more
it's half past 4
the afternoon
and sunset soon
you sweep the porch
you mop the floors
and then to sleep, good night

Rise, this time
don't check the time
your house is fine
with brilliant shine
you feel a kind
of peace of mind
so now to rest, goodbye
