The Lady In The Window

Poem By Lyrael Myrna

She sits upon a naked chair
Watching the naked sky
Out the window of uncertainty
She wants to stand and fly

But her aching joints break from beneath her
And she falls to the ground
The smashing pottery
To her, makes no sound

As she gazes out to the world below
Whilst sprawled upon the ground
She remembers life long ago
When everything was sound

She can still smell the roses
Their scent fills the night air
The vivid colors shining
Petals flying everywhere

She can still see the ocean
From her window in her lair
She remembers how she used to pick
The sand from her hair

She can still feel the soft fur
Of her cat she dearly loves
Sleeping contently near the fire
His dreams of the bird up above

She rises slowly from the floor
Her body black and blue
She sits down to her grand piano
And plays a melody through

Harmonizing with the wind
Her music soft, but sure
The neighborhood sleeps peacefully
But she still wishes for a cure

When she was small she could hear the waves crash
Her cat attack a bird
The sound of a bottle smash
A stampeding cattle herd

She no longer hears these little things
Wheels turning round and round
But she can remember life long ago
When everything was sound
