The Nestlings Of Spring Just Gone
The nestlings of Spring just gone learning to sing
They will be fine songsters by the birth of next Spring
The young magpies warblings quite good for their age
Though yet quite a way from the perfection stage.
On the second day of December the southern calendar Summer has begun
And white butterflies dancing in the afternoon sun
And the song of the blackbird melodious and clear
Familiar and unmistakeable and so pleasant to hear.
The day is quite warm with the slightest of breeze
And so pleasant the sweet scent of the natural aroma off of the blossoming trees
The warm air is full of the buzzings of flies and of bees
And a forecast high for the day of twenty nine degrees.
In the sunny blue sky just a few patches of gray
On what indeed is quite a beautiful day
And this year's young magpies six weeks out of the nest
To master the art of song doing their best.
