The Night

The Night

The look of a friendly stranger
The smile from the unknown
The slight conversation of danger
Reaping the seeds we have sown

The gentle touch on the hand
Just to let you know that I care
Being friendly is like quicksand
That few enter if they dare

He took me trust and crushed it
As if it was nothing at all
He took my life and threw it in a pit
As if I were some china doll

I did all I could to fight
To pretend it wasn't me
I ran till he was out of sight
I ran till I was free

The night that I said no
Is a night I won't forget
The night that I said no
Is a night I'll always regret

There will never be another day
That I can walk down the street
There will never be another way
That I won't ever feel defeat

He took my life
He tore it apart
What's left of this life
Isn't worth the part

The night that I said no
Was the death of this young soul
The night that I said no
Was when this heart turned to coal
