The Obesessive Ex

The telephone rings, causing my guts to tighten … again,
More bitter words fall from your bile soaked mouth
You hang up after drenching me in abuse … again.

A text magically appears announcing its arrival with a delicate chime,
But its optimistic song poorly disguises the bitter words contained within … again.

Another, then another and then the phone rings.

I hate that phone …. I want it to ring its self hoarse

Once upon a time I ran to answer your calls,
And now I run from them.

Your car is parked outside my apartment … again

Another chime & more bitter words

I long for you to find another obsession

Wow! You've expressed a great deal of raw emotion in the words you've penned about your ex. The reader is easily able to receive the imagery of despair that is reinforced by a repeating constant meter. Well-written poem. : -)
