The Observant

Poem By Johnny Lennox

The confused insomniac
Is a narcissistic
Mirror Dweller
With skin pressed upon a pillow of nails
They see the world smothered in gloom
Of the dividing Moon
As it shines through
Into Shrines
Of decadent boredom

All While

The unreadable
Is whaling like a corpse
In a sea of words
And red lips
Stinging the tips

All Whilst

The desirable
Wallows in the concoction
Of the disbelieving
A bewildered soul
Seeks the horizon

Over there

The perfectionist sits with
A misshapen soul
His heart wrongly cast
On the day of his forgery
He waits in white rooms
The rope tugged tight in
His ultimate last plight

All While

The clock ticked
Like rickets in an American farm

The vulgar
The greedy
Speak slow
And wash their t-shirts
In filth from the city

The smart
Are too smart
For their own knowing
They know the chaos
The greedy
The vulgar
And seedy
They write
In music enthralled sweats
As we sit and meekly observe
Pondering their methodologies
Dipping and diving
The ocean of life
Into the dreams others have lived
Where ours have evaporated in the sullen sun
Parched, dry and weak
We've succumbed to the pressing heat

Our senses

Lap in
Lap Out

Fade out

And grow anew
